I’m Kim — one-third of the sisters behind Hamma House.
A few years ago, our parents, my two sisters, and all our families went in together on a lakehouse. The idea was simple: one place for everyone to gather, make noise, and build the kind of memories you actually remember. Within a year and a half, we lost both our parents. Suddenly the house that was supposed to hold all of us together felt impossible to keep — until we realized Airbnb could be the thing that saved it.
So that’s what we did. We turned grief into a game plan, and now we’re figuring out this whole hosting thing in real time — trying to actually enjoy the lake ourselves while sharing it with guests who need a break too. It’s messy, it’s chaotic, and somehow it’s also some of the most fun we’ve had. This is us sharing that journey — the wins, the wtf moments, and whatever we learn along the way that might help you too.
Oh, and the name? “Hamma” is what our dad used to call his sons-in-laws — his go-to way of getting their attention, for no damn logical reason. We added the “House.” The Hamma is all him.
